My love of creating a scene was well underway when, at 11 years old, I spontaneously staged an event in our local small-town grocery store that both humiliated and horrified my innocent brother. The looks of disgust heaped upon him by the ladies in the produce isle were validation of my successful 'skit'. I went to CalArts and studied performing arts in the 80s back when the side of the hill outside my dorm room window still spelled Valencia out of carefully manicured flowers. I also studied for two years with The Groundlings, MK Lewis and Dee Marcus. Such fun! Not being waitress material, but needing to eat while pursuing legitimate scene-making opportunities, I needed a plan B and fast. One night, while watching Simon and Simon it hit me. I'll be a Private I! After graduating from Nick Harris Detective Academy. I was placed with an agency doing all sorts of cool stuff like following cheating spouses, busting crooked lawyers, bilking old ladies out of their life savings. Real quality, life affirming stuff. Some of it really was, but the hours and case load weren't conducive to popping off for a yogurt commercial audition at the drop of a hat. And isn't that what life is REALLY about? Cut to: Animation Job Opportunity... What a fabulously fun industry!! So escaping the dark underbelly of the PI world (though I would continue to run background checks on prospective boyfriends), I worked on the production side at several animation companies including Warner Brothers, Amblin Entertainment, Universal Studios, Duck Soup Productions and The Walt Disney Company, managing various departments. I acted in small roles in the 80s and 90s and began to do voice over work in animation and commercials and appeared in two films starring Earnest Borgnine. Boy was I lucky to work with such a legend. All this time I was moonlighting as an infant apparel designer/manufacturer for the Stylease brand that I created and patented. My daughters inspired the mom-invented product and I launched it in 2002. I grew the line to 28 styles and sold it to over 300 stores for 12 years until I closed the company in 2014 because I like sleep and I hadn't had any in like, 15 years. I briefly escaped the clutches of LA and endured frostbite in Traverse City, Michigan for nearly the entire Bush administration. So that was fun. I'm now joyfully back in the land of sunshine as a Production Manager for Sony Pictures Animation on the show Agent King, coming to Netflix in 2022.
Oh and and hey, if you want someone followed, or need baby clothes for someone at the office, I can totally hook you up.
